About Rawtake

Built by a writer who needed it
to exist.

Rawtake started 184,000 words into a science-fiction trilogy. The writing was pouring out — dictated on drives, typed in bursts, told the way you'd tell a friend — but every tool that offered to "help" wanted to do the one thing that ruins a book: write it for you, in a voice that belongs to no one.

"I was 184,000 words into my trilogy when I realized the tool I needed didn't exist. So I built it — and finished the book inside it."
— MATTHEW HAWKES · AUTHOR OF THE BOOK OF MINER · FOUNDER OF RAWTAKE

So Rawtake does something different. You talk or type your story exactly how it comes — typos, run-ons, no punctuation, thoughts that change direction mid-sentence. Rawtake hands it back as finished prose in your cadence, your rhythm, your words, with a plain-English report of every change it made. The raw take, the clean take, and the report are preserved side by side for every paragraph and sealed with a cryptographic fingerprint — a Proof of Authorship no other writing tool keeps.

What we believe

The books that last do two things exceptionally well: they sound like one particular human, and they tell the truth about being one. Those two things — voice and emotional honesty — cannot be generated, and any tool that tries is manufacturing forgettable books at scale.

THE RAWTAKE VOW

We never generate your voice. We never write your book. We never train on your manuscript. Your words stay yours — provably. Everything else, we make faster.

That's why the AI in Rawtake cleans, suggests, researches, and remembers — but never composes your prose. When you accept an AI-suggested line in Dialogue Studio, it's marked in your record, because a certificate that ever lies is worthless. Honesty is the product.

Where we are

Rawtake is built in Utah, USA, and used everywhere someone has a story and no patience for polish. The founder writes his own books inside it every day — which means every rough edge gets found by the person most motivated to fix it, usually within hours.
